Meet Ben Fortin

Ben Fortin was born and raised in a rural area of Maine, near Fairfield. Growing up on a farm, young Fortin learned how to shoot a pellet gun by the age of five, and later, he began hunting small game with .22 LR.

In 1996, Fortin joined the United States Army, and has served in that capacity for the past 14 years. Currently ranked as Sergeant First Class, Fortin serves as a Special Forces Senior Engineer Sergeant assigned to the 5th Special Forces Group at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Among his many military duties, Fortin is the advanced marksmanship instructor for the group. He has been deployed to the Middle East numerous times, including an amazing six tours in Iraq.

Fortin first learned of practical shooting competition through friends and fellow shooters, Kurt Miller, Jeff Cramblit, Trapper Swanson and Jeff Gurwitch, and in 2004, he entered his first USPSA Pistol match. In 2009, Fortin discovered 3-Gun competition and has taken the 3-Gun circuit by storm ever since. The past three years has seen him claim multiple 3-Gun titles, and already in 2011, he has placed second in the MGM Iron Man Trooper Class and taken second in the Industry Masters Team Event.
