    Default Instinct L anomaly

Received my Instinct L this afternoon and headed to the range to break in. Using Remington 12ga, 2 3/4 length, 1330 velocity, 1 1/4 oz, #4 shot. About 16 rounds downrange and was unable to open the chamber. Believe the firing pin was stuck in the primer, because when I ran a rod down the barrel and tapped on the hull I was able to open.

Fired another 150 rounds without any issues, any ideas?

I have about 1000 rounds through my Instinct L and have not had the problem, if it occured just that once perhaps it was something with that particular primer, do the ends of the firing pins look ok.

I also shoot a Thompson Center Encore muzzleloader and on occassion have had the pin stick in the 209 shotgun primer and not open, so it can happen.

Only occurred that one time, maybe a break-in issue.

Following firing the 1st round, did you ever have yours jump into safe? Have had that multiple times, very frustrating.

No I have not had the safety jump like that and can see how that would be troublesome, it might be worth giving Franchi service a call it may or may not be something that will work itself out. I also have an Instinct SL in 20 gauge that I have shot pretty frequently and have not had the safety issue with that firearm either.

If it's designed like the Veloce was, the auto-safety is easily disabled.

I have also seen some bad primers from Rem here lately like they changed the cup metal. Seen alot of pierced/ burned through primers on different makes of guns with Rem 12 and 20. My 2 cents.

I'm in 100% agreement with Benelligunny. Sounds like you got a bad primer. Try a few boxes of another brand, the problem sounds ammo related.
