Double Defense O/U Fore-grip Detaches After Firing

Purchased O/U two weeks ago, first rounds through caused the fore-grip to detach from the barrels. Thought maybe I had accidentally triggered the release, so I loaded two more shells and had another go. This time, rested the fore-grip on rifle bench, with the release not in contact with it. Same result.

This being my first O/U, I am at a loss. Removed the fore-grip, inspected all surfaces, went back to store where I purchased, looked at another, all seems to be the same. Clerk advised me to clean the gun, and then try again. Did so, tested, same result.

Thoughts/suggestions?

Best bet is to send it back to Stoeger. The latch/lug may not be fit correctly and can be a real pain to get it right.
