    Default El Patron

I guess this is a dumb question but I cannot seem to find the answer...can the El Patron be carried safely with the hammer down on a loaded chamber?

I wouldn't personally, however if it has the Uberti Cylinder Pin set back in the second notch the pin can't hit the bullet. Empty the gun and push in the pin release and see if the Pin goes in more. Then lower the hammer and see if there is a gap that will tell you.

I don't have an ElPatron but I do have two 1873 Cattlemen, and I do believe that the ElPatron is a fine tuned Cattleman. The Cattleman has no safety bar or the like, and the owners manual states to leave an empty cylinder with the hammer down on that if carrying the weapon loaded. So... no, I wouldn't leave the hammer down on a loaded cylinder.

It is also easy to load 5 also. Simply put one in then skip one then load 4. Now close the loading gate and cock the hammer all the way back then lower the hammer. You will have the gun sitting on an empty chamber every time. The only time I put in 6 is using snap caps.

I believe the El Patron also uses a different grip frame, too. If I remember correctly, it's the same one as the 1860. (Opposed to normal SAA grip frame which is the same length and angle as the 1851 Navy.)
