Thread: factory chokes

    Default factory chokes

I just bought a Franchi Instinct L which only comes with three choke tubes (IC, M, F). One option I am exploring is to buy a second factory IC to give me more versatility for targets and close range hunting. These are on the website; however, there is no pricing or purchasing instructions. How would I get my hands on these?

Mann and Sons used to be a Franchi parts distributor. You could try them.

It might be cheaper and easier to contact Briley and buy an after market choke tube. My 20ga Affinity came with Cyl, Mod and Full tubes. I usually use IC for hunting and I simply went on line and ordered one from them. Had it in less that a week.

I would think that your dealer would be able to order it for you, I am on the east coast in NJ and I believe Franchi guns and parts are shipped out of Maryland. I have an Instinct L 12 gauge, 28" barrels and am finding the IC in the lower barrel and MOD in the top a nice combination for the informal trap shooting that I do over my one step trap.

I am real pleased with this shotgun's feel and performance, please let us know your take on the gun.

With 75 rounds through: The only gripe I could have is that it's easier not to reset the trigger between shots than with my old gun so I'll have to get used to returning the trigger better. The fit was great for me. The 12 ga it replaced had 1.5, 2.25'' of drop in the stock and I often felt that I had to lean my face forward to make good contact with the stock. I bought a stick on cheek riser but could never make it feel right. With this gun's 1.5, 2'' drop it's as if I can comfortably hold my head more upright like I'm supposed to. That and I can noticibly feel the gun point quicker than my old one which makes sense considering it's almost 2 pounds lighter. Plus the 28 inch barrell feels the same as the 28 inch on my 12. I expected a lower score on the skeet range with the new gun and all but, in the end, I didn't shoot too far off average for me (20 and 18). This was even with a laundery list of excuses: crazy wind that caused most of the shooters to leave after an hour, a mod choke in the top barrel, and not shooting for a month. Can't say I would have done better with the old gun.

After 25,000+ rounds: We'll see. On that note, my warranty card says three years even though their ads say seven. They'll definitely be getting a call on that...

20ga48 Franchi does give a 7 year warranty on these guns, I guess the cards in the case are old mine had said 3 years also. If you go to the Support button on the top of the Franchi site that brings you to this forum you can register your gun on line and the 7 year warranty will be shown on the print out.

I am not sure what you mean by by having to reset the trigger between shots, I shoot and just pull the trigger for a second shot.

sounds like he is not fully releasing the trigger before attempting to pull it for a second shot.

You have a 12 gauge correct? The reason I ask is b/c I have a set of factory 20 ga chokes in IC, M, and F I would like to sell. Since I use Extended Chokes I do not need them.

    Hey man,

I bought a pair of Carlson skeet chokes a while ago. We might still have a deal because they'd be nice to have so I can double each of my choke sizes. Considering that I can go down the road and buy Carlson's for $22 a piece ($66 total) and I really don't need them, it'd have to be a good deal though.

I would buy chokes from Trulock.
