    Question are free floated barrel rifles less durable?

    No not usually. To the contrary they often have increased barrel diameters, which in theory makes them stronger. Even a non floated barrel is unsupported in many or all directions, depending on the platform. The durability of zero is better, for many documented reasons. Otherwise there is no difference I can think of.

    What cleefurd said. Free floating a barrel has zero to do with durability or the longevity of the barrel. It does as touched on above have generally everything to do with accuracy.

    If you use them as a pry bar they just don't hold up as well.
