Default Picatinny Rail For Stoeger M2000

Anybody know of a rail that fits the contour of the m2000. Was looking at a UTG rail but not sure how that will sit on the receiver of the M2000. Any leads or experience welcome!

Sounds like we're kinda on the same path; you were looking for ghost ring sights, now a top rail (assuming you meant top rail for reciever, right?). My project will be slow-moving, as money permits, but I was planning to take my gun in to a local gun shop and check the fit of some of the rails they have in stock to see if I could find a good fit.

Were you planning to tap the reciever yourself or have it done? I had a gunsmith do mine before on my M1 Super 90 and it turned out pretty nice. Not sure if I want to attempt it myself even though I am somewhat mechanically inclined.

I'm still undecided on what I'm going to do about iron sights. I've got the M2000 Defense model. It has no rear sight and rifle-type sight on the front of the 18.5" bbl. I'd like to put a rear sight on, and be able to switch over barrels one more suited to hunting with choke tubes.

I have pics of my 2000 up on another post. I have the 2000 tactical pistol grip 18.5. Took it out last weekend and shot the **** out of it. It was flawless! I Think I am going to send the gun out and get the rail installed. I put a magpul afg on my forend myself but don't really want to experiment drilling holes in my gun! I have the blade sight on the front of my gun. I have seen a guy use a GG&G quick clip sling thing for dovetails on the back of his rail as a makeshift ghost ring wit the front sight as is. Don't know about the long range accuracy but he claimed it was good to about 50yards. I just want it to play. Let me know how you make out.

Yeh, we got the same gun. I just got mine today. I had a Benelli M1 S90 tactical for 20 years and I'm really impressed with the Stoeger I got today. Haven't got to fire it yet but contrary to what I've read its action is silky smooth cycling shells and the build quality appears superb; with a few small exceptions like the lack of rear sight.
Before you send yours out, be aware there is another option for us. The B-Square # 16300 saddle scope mount made for the Benelli Montefeltro will fit our guns. I'm thinking now that might be my best option as it's easily taken on-and-off the gun. That way I can use a red dot with the 18.5" barrel (slugs & home defense) and remove the mount & scope together if I want to use a beaded sight vent rib barrel for hunting. If I went that route I wouldn't even bother with the iron sights.
