    Default Stoeger Longfowler?

I read a post on Shotgunworld that someone had bought an Uplander with 30" barrels at Bass Pro. He said it was a new gun not used. Does anyone know anything about this model? Was it a limited run or for DU?

Must be rarer than I thought.

I picked one up at Bass Pro also. It's an Uplander Supreme(says so on the barrels), with 30" barrels, the box says it's a "Longfowler". The barrels, receiver and wood are all matte finished and it comes with flush and extended chokes of ic/m. Single trigger with extractors, 3" chambers. I think it will be a good duck gun.

I sent my Longfowler off to Stoeger. It doubled on me randomly 3 or 4 times shooting skeet 2d box of shells, store bought 1 oz skeet loads. It also had the problem of non Stoeger tubes..i.e. invector, mossy, winchoke not seating fully. Sent it off to Stoeger & they got it 4/10/12.

Stoeger says the Longfowler is on it 's way back.

I'm not optimistic. They said the doubling was failure to get the gun tight to the shoulder... I've been shooting double barrels for 20+ years never had a gun double before or since. I was shooting 1 oz skeet loads when it doubled. What's it going to do with 1 1/4 steel duck loads? They said they shot it and it didn't double with 2 3/4 & 3 " loads. It didn't double on me until the 2d round of skeet, not sure 1or 2 shots would be enough to test it.. We shall see.

They also said they couldn't figure out why non-stoeger tubes wouldn't fully seat and they were sending me some extended IGA tubes. Fine, but bottom line neither invector, winchoke nor mossy tubes will fit and they didn't address that. Perhaps I want to shoot non factory tubes. Now what? The bottom of the recess where the tubes seat against the barrel wasn't fully cleaned up, there were unfinished edges preventing the tubes from seating, Which I told them.

Not real happy, but I should have it back in time to shoot skeet next week and I'll try it out, because with a year warranty you need to allow time to ship it and get it back if it's not right. I'm hoping I don't have to send it back but not optimistic. I was hoping for better.
