Default HI! I need Shotgun help.

This shotgun was given to me by my grandfather a few days ago. All I can tell you is what I know: The barrel is stamped "S.P.A. Luigi Franchi-Brescia" Doesnt say 12 or 20 gauge, but from the date code stamp I can tell it was made in 1965(XXI)

Thats all it says, made in italy, I know its an auto-loader, just really cant find any more information than that, I am more in search of a model type or name so if/when I need replacement parts or whatever I know what I am getting them for.

Is it long recoil operated (barrel shoves into receiver) or gas piston operated?

Also, there are no other markings on the gun or barrel. Like i said, it doesnt even specify gauge, very clean nice gun though.

Two more posts and you can post the pic.

Is the receiver steel or aluminum?

    That's a long recoil action.
If you place the butt on the floor and push down on the barrel, it will drive back into the receiver.
John Browning's design. Just like the Auto 5's.

It's basically the same gun as the current 48AL.
    Allow receiver, long recoil.
It's in beautiful condition for its age.
    A true keeper!
