Default Stoeger 12ga over/under Condor Competition

I bought a condor competition about 5 months ago and have shot weekly a round of sporting clay or skeet. 3-4 times i have had a missfire in the bottom chamber. the shell is indented but didn't fire. everyone is using the same shells...is there and adjustment to correct this issue or is something wearing out already?

New or reloaded shells? If new, then it could be a firing pin that's too short or something (like grease) is keeping it from coming out all the way. Has it ever been cleaned? Reloads, check to see if the primer is set too deep.

Do you have a nice deep indent in the primer on all shells that fire and the ones that didn't?

New Loads only. Have not had the trigger mechanism out to clean it, wasn't sure how often I needed to do that and not that confident taking that out. The shells that didn't fire don't have much of an indent but all the ones that do fire have a nice deep indent.

It would seem like there might be something floating around the firing pin preventing from protruding all the way. It is a common thing that people will buy a new shotgun and not clean it thoroughly before its first use and then the grease starts to harden...

Do you suggest a cleaning of trigger mechanism where I remove the entire assembly? I cleaned everything before I first shot the gun and have cleaned the gun regularly but I have not taken the trigger assembly out. Shot 100 rounds on Sunday with no incident.

    Paddler,

Sent me a PM with your e-mail address, and I'll send you recommendations for cleaning the internals.

I had the same problem but with the SxS Uplander 12/20 Combo.

The 1st barrel misfired a lot. I was using Remington. I called CS, very helpful, they said to change ammo.

I did. Bought Federal (Walmart) and I have not had ANY misfires.

In my research, I found other people having problems with Remington shells. For me the problem went away.

These guns may be somewhat ammo sensitive.

Last week I fire a round of 100 (trap) and not 1 misfire.

Just wanted to add that my Beretta 391 Target gun eat Remington shells. So maybe it's just some Stoegers don't like them.

My step dad bought a new Beretta DT-10 and had the same misfire problems. I held the receiver over a garbage can and sprayed Gunscrubber in the firing pin holes. A lot of black gunk came out and she's been working great ever since. This now a part of my normal gun cleaning. BTW the Beretta only had about 250 rounds when the problem surfaced.
