So I splurged on a "new" M1 field barrel, its pretty nice. However, the synthetic forend my M1 came with wont fit it, it seems the lug the magazine extension ring is welded to is longer than the old GRS barrel's lug. If I modify the forend to fit the longer lug, will it keep me from using the GRS barrel or does a longer channel not matter?
