    Default Good round for yellowboy?

    Hi all...
I am new here and am wondering if anyone can reccomend a good round for the 1866 Yellowboy in 45 colt.
I have tried a few but as i don't reload yet i'd rather not spend a mint on rounds that do not feed well only to find that out.
I am planning on using this as a bush gun for both hogs and deer - i'm not too interested in cowboy action...just thought it was a beautiful gun and had to have it (whether or not it was practical!).
    Thanks! Whisky

may i suggest Winchester 200gr soft point[round nose]. hollow points dont seem to feed quite as smooth as a round nose does. a 200gr bullet will deliver a whallop to most any thing you care to shoot at.

Of course make sure any bullet you select has a FLAT TIP which should always be used in any tube magazine rifle using centerfire ammunition. That's a matter of safety, not feeding.

I use a 200 grain round nose flat point (RNFP) bullet and have had good results.

there is a new round out for lever guns with a ballistic type tip. but the tip is rubber instead of high impact plastic.it was designed for lever guns, and dramaticly improves their performance. and now i cant find what magazine i saw it in. when i find it, i will let you know.

well i found it. their made by Hornady, called LEVERevolution.[spelled like that] only problem is they only come in 30-30/35 rem/444marlin/45-70/and 450marlin.bummer. but honestly just a round nose bullet is safe enough.
