    Default Stoeger Cattleman

I have a Stoeger Uberti that looks just like the Cattleman Old Model with the old west finish. I was wanting a colt clone and saw this and couldn't pass on it. My question is. Do I have a Colt clone?

Yes. I've never heard anyone actually define "Colt Clone" before, but in my opinion, anything that endeavors to use an appeal to the old west esthetic of a Colt Single Action Army, which is reasonably sucessful in doing so, is a Colt clone.

If they fail miserably, then obviously no effort was made to imitate.

On the other hand, Ruger Vacuearos (sp?) and or single action Rugers are in a class by themselves, mechanically and, in my opinion, esthetically.

If you look at USFA, I think those are Colt clones. However, it is my understanding that they go the extra mile to stand alone on quality. They charge more, of course.

I like my Uberti Calvalry model (imported by Cimarron). I shoot the **** out of it. It looks good. It works. It cost about 1/4 of what a Colt would cost (new or used). But it's not a Colt. It's a clone. That's okay.

I'd like to get one of those antique finishes like you have. However, I've seen some that look *very* good, and others that look fake. If you are happy, thats what counts. Good shooting!
