Saw my first Blue Grouse today. Had never seen one before and while I was at work headed to a remote tower site there was one on the road near the top of the mountain we were on.

Got fairly close as he wasn't interested in flying off. Looking forward to hunting this fall!!

Have you had a chance to work the dog much?
I think when the season gets cranking, you're going to forget all about not buying a new shotgun, because you're going to be having a ball with that well-trained birding machine
As you idea, Your picture don't very warm and wet. Have much die of bird. I think this isn't only a game.

I haven't worked him at all, but he's at the trainers three days a week for the last month. He's got two more months of that and I can very much tell the difference in him already - he is "very" birdie now.

I'll be going with him in a week or so, so that we can introduce him to gun fire. He's not afraid of loud noises so far, and he's heard me shooting my gun a couple hundred yards away (shotgun and pistol), but nothing up close yet.

Second grouse of the year, once again while I was at work and out of hunting season.
