Another good show. This episode was about Apalachian Turkey dogs. This old feller picked out the traits he wanted for turkey dogs and basically created his own breed of dog. He's been breeding them for about 40 years now, and it was interesting to watch.

Dog runs in, barks and busts up the birds (should note that this is for fall turkey hunting, not spring), then they stick the dog in a camo bag and keep him covered up while they wait for the birds to return.

Very interesting use of dogs, I thought.

ESPN2, comes on about 5:00 A.M. my time (MST). During the show they give some shooting tips, and at the end they give some tips on ammo. Thanks to Tucker for the heads up on when and where the show airs.

I can't believe they just gave away one of this area's oldest and best-kept secrets about turkey hunting like that!

My grandfather used to hunt them the same way, and there are several groups in the area who still use dogs.

Pretty neat stuff.
