I own a new Benelli R1 in 30-06. After firing 100-150 rounds I began having problems of feeding a new cartridge after the empty case is properly ejected. This occurs randomly 1 out of 5 times. After the last cartridge is fired sometimes the action does not stay open. Does anyone have the same problem or have a solution.

I had the exact same thing happen last weekend, (see .06 issues in this forum) I was told to remove and clean the plunger assembly. I found quite a bit of build up and oil in there. I haven't shot it since, but I can see why it was a problem. I'll let you know if it works.

I hope to have time to go to the shooting range this week-end. It wil be my last opportunity this year to test my R1. My rifle was examined by a gunsmith who fired 10 rounds and told me he did not have any problem. Thank you for your suggestion. I will clean the rifle with more attention to the plunger.
