recently bought one in 45 colt. cases came out egg shaped and heavily smoked. sent to benelli for repairs by dealer where purchased. it has been 5 weeks with no word from benelli as to status of repairs despite attempts by my dealer to contact them. has anyone out there had similar problems dealing with benelli concerning repairs to uberti firearms?

    Good luck!!

I had a very similar problem.

I (dealer) sent a Model 73 in for the same thing.

They then returned it saying it went through Navy Arms so had to come back that way. Dealer sent it to Navy Arms, who sent it in.

Nine weeks later --count 'em-- NINE weeks, it came back with a handwritten note on letterhead.

Know what they said? 'Yep, the barrel isn't right. Tell him to get it fixed himself.'

NOT like the days of Maria Uberti.

BTW- 45LC will always have blowby. Cowboy loads are light so don't seal as well and you need to run the ammo through a Lee factory crimper.

As a well known gunsmith said to me, "...now you know why they they never made the rifle in 45 Colt." .44/40 will seal
