I have received my brand nwe Veloce friday, went to the range yesterday, and fired 75 round of sporting clays. First shot goes, but second doesn't fire. Sometimes it will goes but 7 out of 10 times the second shot will not fire. I have tried to select upper or lower barrel as first shot and it didnt help. Anyone knows what to do ?

Need return adress for Franchi authorised service center in Canada.

Also, I don't like the wood grain on one side of the stock. Heres a pics of the stock. Maybe I am too demanding for a 1800$ shotgun ?

I've never liked banding in the grain like that either, but you see it quite often.

I'm assuming you paid $1,800 Candadian dollars, because $1,800 US would be WAY too much for a Veloce.

I'm also assuming that you purchased the gun sight unseen, and thus did not have the opportunity to inspect it before the deal went through?

The Veloce features a safety that automatically resets itself whenever the action is opened.
Is yours failing to fire after reloading, or it just that the second barrel won't fire if fired immediately after the first?

If the above doesn't apply, then exactly what's happening when you attempt to fire the second barrel?

Is it snapping at all, or is the trigger not functional?

The auto-safety can easily be disengaged.
See my post in at ShotgunWorld.com.

Even if the auto-safety isn't the problem, perhaps reviewing the photograph will help you with yours.

Thanks Tucker,

Actually, the second barrel won't fire immediatly after the first ! 7 out of 10 times the second shot won't go...
The trigger is non functionnal at all, no clik no depressing noise... Nothing happening... And this occur with either the Over or the under barrel selected first.

I have paid 1530$ Cdn with taxes and shipping. Retail was 1800$ cdn. and as you stated above I got it from a Edmonton retailer and was not abble to see it before receiving it. I understand the wood grain and the dye may end with a different color.

I will call the gun shop from were I got it and request the franchi authorized service center. But if someone have an idea of what going wrong with the gun feel free to reply

Thanks

Fred (who is saddened about is brand new malfunctionning gun )

Have you checked to see if the failure is repeated on dry fires, or is it just with live ammo?

That may shed some light on whether it's related to recoil in some way, or something else.

I'd pull the stock off and check the fit and funtion of the internals.
If it does occure with dry fires, then I'd definitely do it, as the problem should become immediately apparent.

It's a pretty simple mechanism, and I'd almost bet that it's a simple fix.

When it does fail, how you reset it to a working state? Does just re-cocking it do the job?

The faillure is only with live ammo. It kills me to remove the stock and play with the mechanism on a 3 days old, brand new gun...

When it fails, I open the barrell, remove the empty shell, load with a fresh ammo and then request another clay, then first shot goes, second shot not...

Nice gun, but not so good mechanism... If only it would goes as well as my other 14 guns... I guess it's just a mather of adjustment or so...

It's up to you, but I can tell you that if you send it in, you're going to be without it for a considerable period of time.

Of course, with fourteen more in the stable, you're not likely to miss it that much.

I'd call CS and explain the problem to them.
if they want it back, get them to committ to some kind of a timeframe.
This is getting into the busy season for them, and the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

BTW, I'd be willing to bet you that if you followed my instructions for disabling the auto-safety, the problem would go away.

All that's involved is the removal of a pin.
It can easily be put right back in if you change your mind.

Most clay shooters want it out anyway.

Hopefully I will be able to go out for partridge hunting with it this season but by now I am not very happy with this...

I just got a Veloce this past weekend and I am having the same problem. Exactly the same problem. It is also a new gun. I fired approximately 40 rounds through it on Saturday shooting skeet. It only happened once during that time. However, it now does it everytime. The only thing that I can add is that when shooting clays now and the first barrel goes off, and still pointed in a safe direction, I continue to sqeeze and release the trigger. Generally on the 5th to 10 pull, the second barrel will fire. I have also dry fired and fired with snap caps and both barrels do fire. So it does appear to be recoil related. There also appears to be some play in the trigger. Any suggestions?
