I just bought a 12 ga DU Special over under. What model is it? How can I figure that out? I would like to get another barrel.

Did you get a box or owner's manual?
Are there any markings on the gun?

It came with a manual but it doesn't say what model it is. It states it as a Ducks Unlimited Special. No model name. The barrels are stamped CAM.76 (upper) and ??640 (lower). These are under the wood.

It also came in a maroon case. Canvas and leather. The trigger guard has SPONSOR engraved on it. I have been trying to contact the Customer Service people but never have much luck getting a live person.

I recognize this is a very old thread, but was wondering if you (or anyone else) may have discovered more info on this gun. I've recently run across what may be the same gun. Short description is probably late 80's or 90's Luigi Franchi DU Special 12 ga O/U, "sponsor" engraved on bottom of trigger guard, maroon canvas and viny/leather DU locking hard case, silver engraved receiver w gold game inlays - duck and quail) . I know it was imported by American Arms, Inc. - now bankrupt and bought by TriStar around 2000...I've tried, but I don't expect to get any answers there. In short, just looking for opinions on quality and ball park value for what I would say is a 95% condition with 8 Franchok tubes included. I have S/N if needed. Thanks in advance!

No, and wouldn't properly know what to ask for it anyway - I've found almost no info on this firearm - hence the questions to this forum. I'm not a gun collector, but rather a gun user in that I shoot most all the guns I own. I've hunted Benelli autos for several years, the O/Us have been Citoris, Red Labels, and one Fausti - this is my 1st Franchi. I plan to either give as a gift or use on the skeet range and upland hunting. If this is a gun that should be kept on display (either due to novelty or just not built for heavy use) then I'll gift it in the future. I'm just trying to figure out which side (display or use)of the tipping scale this firearm sits on - most DU guns in the $$ range I dabble in are not 'investment grade' guns but rather are 'nice' guns that carry more personal value than $$ value. Any opinions out there?

I would put the value of a 95% gun at $1,500 or more.

The quality is excellent finish is great. Since this original thread I have put over a thousand rounds through it on the skeet range.
