I can't seem to find any information on a nice-handling Franchi O/U that I inherited from a relative. It is a 12 ga. chambered in 2 3/4". It has a nicely scrolled reciever and is stamped Brescia, Italy. On the bottom of the pistol grip on the stock it has a plate which reads: CIL Model 1000 light field. Any information on this model or approx. when they were made would be appreciated. I can post the serial # if that is any help. Thanks.

I know the Alcione once had a light field model. Its quite possible that is what your gun is.

If you give me the serial # I think I may be able to determine when it was made. and the fact that is only 2 3/4" chamber does help: maybe it wont be like trying to find a needle in a haystack

I am fairly sure that it was made in 1940 if it was the same serial number layout then.

And for future reference most guns have the year they were made writtin as the first two numbers in the serial # hence (40)51273
