Releasing Firing pin

Is it necessary to release the firing pin when storing your gun for a period of time?

I bought a pair for my Alcione, what I wanna know is when the firing pin goes off, how far does it extend out?? The stop Cap has already got a dent the shape of the pin, is it till working??

Hi Mr Morris- Yes, its still working ... or at least it should be.

and yes .. keep using the snap caps... stress is stress anyway you look at it.
