can some one tell me what is the difference between a Benelli and a Franci before i buy one? i know the benelli has got that ineteria system which is a roatatin bolt type deal, is the franchi the same thang as that?

Franchi autos are gas operated .. using the rotary bolt design too.
Benelli autos (outside of the M4/R1 ARGO design) are recoil operated -or- as you mentioned, "inertial" .
Birddog - Almost right.....certain Franchi's are gas operated, some are inertia, soon to be all inertia. The only semi-auto's that still have gas (pun intended) are the 720 and 912 series, as well as the 712 Raptor. The new I-12's are inertia, with more models in the making. Hope this helps.
The AL 48 is recoil operated. The 612 and 620 are also gas operated.
The 612 and 620's are discontinued, and are no longer available. Again, the only Franchi's that are gas operated are the 912 and 720 series, as well as the 712 Raptor.
