Considering purchasing one of these for upland game hunting. Never hunted with an O/U and have a couple of questions.

1. Does anyone own this particular gun? What are it's good points, bad points, etc.
2. The button on the trigger is a bit of a puzzle for me. It looks to be a saftey, but the text on the site says it's a "barrel selector". What exactly does it do?
3. I've heard the term SST several time while shopping online for O/U's. What is a "single selective trigger"?

Thanks for your help in this matter, I'm new to the shotgun sports and information is harder to come by than I would have thought.

I don't have the classic, but the Alcione SX. I love the gun. I hunt and shoot sporting clays with it.
To answer your other questions:

The button on the trigger is the barrel selector. It changes which barrel fires first the first time you pull the trigger. If you have the gun mounted, the button pushed to the left will fire the bottom barrel first and then when you pull the trigger a 2nd time it fires the top barrel. To fire the top barrel first, push the button to the right side.

The SST is a single trigger that will work to fire both of the barrels, seperately. It replaced the older two trigger style.

Thanx Travis, this is a huge help. I was wondering what is the benefit to an O/U over the semi's? I notice that most "wingshooters" whether on the range or in the field use them over the semis. I like the looks of the O/U, but wonder about the utility of it.

One of the biggest advantages, especially in sporting clays is having the option to put two chokes in the gun. Sometimes you are presented a shot at 10 yds and then the 2nd at 35 yds. Another great thing is you don't have to worry about it jamming on you.

Don't get me wrong, the semi's are nice, but there is just something about being in the field bird hunting with an O/U....It reminds you of the post cards and photos you see in the magazines.

I purchased an Alcione Field last year and have been very satisfied with it. I used to hunt with a Remington 1100, but after a year in the field and on the range I'm sold on the double gun. Best of luck!

I agree. I'm gonna buy that gun in January. Only thing I"m not happy about, is the sling thing.

I hate to drill into a BRAND NEW $1000 gun!

I dread it! I think I'll get the gun store to do it, incase I mess it up.

Dont forget another advantage of an O/U to alot of folks including myself is the feel and swing balance. This of course is a personal preference but one owes it to themself to give one a try. I couldnt beleive how much smoother I was with the O/U
