There have been posts on other gun related web sites and chat rooms saying the highlander model has been scraped. truth or rumor?

Unfortunately this is the truth. We received a letter from Benelli USA regarding the cancellation of the Highlander program. It sucks because we had many customers interested in a nice side by side, since the Ruger will most likely be a failure, assuming it is ever released. I'm not sure why they scrapped it, because our rep had said that they were forever backordered.

I must say this is very disapointing. Both the highlander and the Ruger have generated more interest on the web than any models in recent memory.I for one have put off purchasing a new shotgun in anticipation of one or both of these new models coming out. Has there been any reason given for the cancellation of the highlander model?

I talked to our rep again today and he didn't really give a reason. I think its mainly the cost and the time to produce them. I don't really understand that because they have been made forever but now no one can make an upscale S/S. I really don't think the ruger will ever be released because they are having enough trouble keeping their new over unders working.
