I just purchased a Franchi 612vs. I wanted to know if the mercury recoil reducer is offered in the wood stock or just in the synthetic. Also does it make much of a difference in recoil reduction.

I think it is offered for both guns. I don't think it is worth the money all it really does is add wieght.

You will not notice the reciol in a gas gun like the franchi 612. when you shoot turkey loads it will knock the crap out of you but how many turkey loads are you going to shoot? An I would guess that it would still nock the crap out of you with the reciol reducer with a 2 oz or 1 3/4 turkey load they always knock the crap out of me and I am 6 4 260. I shoot 1 1/4 steel at 1425 or 1 1/8 steel at 1550 and it does not bother me. I have not shot turkey loads out of the 612 but every gun regardless of wiegth I have shot in the past kicks with heavy turkey loads.

Save your money and buy some deeks or some other toy.

The recoil reducer will cost you 40 from gander mountain. I would say just buy some fishing weights and put them in the stock and magazine tube. Then maybe get a sims recoil pad for 30 dollars. you could make your own recoil reducer out of PVC piping and lead weights and put that on it would cost you about 10 dollars and do the same add weight to reduce recoil.
