hello everyone, i am new to this forum but see that there is much to learn here. i purchased an M2000 about 2 months ago. i started to get a rust or some kind of oxidation on my barrel. has anyone else heard or seen this before? i oiled the barrel and wiped it clean and it took off the rust or whatever it is, but this time it is very slowly comming back.
i know the M2000 is no upper class gun, but there is no way this should be happening. any help for me? thanks guys

I have the same gun without any rusting but the camo finish. If it is brand new then it needs to be scrubbed down inside and out to remove all the cosmoline, then keep a light coat of oil on before storing the gun. The black finished M2000's do not have a very nice finish, it almost doesnt even seem like bluing - for that reason I stayed away.

If the problem persists talk to your dealer or Benelli customer service.

I think Rem Oil should be sufficient or somthing of similar quality. I would show the rusting to the store you purchased the gun from and see what they say.

Do not use Rem-Oil on the Model 2000. All it did to mine "was dry" the matt finish on mine. Use Break Free CLP and you won't be sorry. I think remoil is fine for nice blue finishes but not for the parkerized.

i know people will slam me for saying this, but after wiping the outside of the gun down with the oil of your choice, lightly spray some WD-40 over it and let it stay. people say its the worst thing you can put on a gun, but i have a 69 browning "humpback" that'll prove 'em wrong.

and good luck with your gun - if this is the worst problem you have, you got a good one.

wd-40 is awsome dunno if i would pack it in it, but after a day in the rain or heavy day sweting in the field i hose exposed parts down with wd-40 and wipe them off. nothing displaces water like it.

wd-40 is great for surface cleaning and a light oil. it isn't something you want on the internals as your final oil, but for the surface, it's great.
