I just bought a Stoeger 2000 combo and was wondering why the rifle sighted slug barrel is a smoothbore??? The combo on the website shows the slug barrel as a cantilever mount rifled barrel. Anyone else have one of these? Is it just an older combo, or what?

    Thanks, guys.

You've just got an older gun, before the rifled barrel came out.

Ahhh, that's what I figured. Still a good deal anyway. I'll try the smoothbore out and see how it groups .Has anyone tried a rifled choke tube in one of these? Can you buy the cantilevered rifled barrel seperately?

    Thanks for the reply, wallhanger.

Hi DaveC, Yes, you can buy the cantelever fully rifled barrel seperatly, however I understand it takes a while to receive them from Stoeger/Benelli. There was a gentleman on Ebay a weeka go with 2 of them for sale in the matte blue finish. If you decide to buy the rifled barrel I would be interested in purchasing your smooth bore barrel. I prefer to slug hunt with open sights, less hassle.

    Ken,

What rounds does the rifled barrel seem to like the best... IYO...? Is it as accurate as you would like it to be...? I'm looking for a 4 to 5 shot group inside the size of a slug box @ 100 yds... Can it do that...?

I am VERY partial to the LIGHTFIELD Hybrid EXP's... They have shot extremely well out to about 125 yds in all of my previous slug guns, but I'll shoot what is the most accurate for my max effective range...

And does your rifled barrel change in shape the last 1/4" before the muzzle...? I mean does it look like they started to put a crown on the end then changed their mind...? Just curious...

Hey radrb8 my neighbor and I both bought the scope mount barell and they shoot totaly different slugs mine shoots the federals at 1450fps amd my neighbors is shooting the new remingtons and his barell seems to like those I would suggest you buy a couple of boxes of different kinds and try them out, hopefully that helps you. And in regards to DaveC you are still able to buy them there is a guy in the gun list that is a big Franchi dealer and we bought them for 180 shipped.
