Thread: Got my new 2000 today and......

I just wanted to thank everyone that has posted information here. After reading everything on this site I had a better idea of what to do when buying the gun. After deciding which one I wanted I had the guy behind the counter try all the choke tubes in the barrel before I would buy it. I could not believe all the metal shavings left on those choke tubes. After wiping them all down and re-lubing them, they all went in easily by hand. When I got it home I immediately dissassembled it and started to clean it, so now for some of my questions:

    1. Should I wipe down everything including the feed tube and spring that is on it?

2.If I do wipe this down what is an appropriate lube to use? All I have is Hoppes #9 lubricating oil, will this work?

    3. When I pushed out the pin holding the trigger assembly in place I found that the pin and the holes were extremely rusty. After cleaning I don't think it is a problem but why would it be so rusty?

    4. And lastly how much lube should I have on this thing when I am done? Right now all the parts have the oil on and then I wiped it off lightly, will this suffice?

Thanks in advance to those that reply

Make sure you completely remove all packing grease from gun, inside and out. then lightly coat with the hopps oil. make sure all facory grease is cleaned from gun, if it isnt it will collect residue from shooting and gum up fast.
Let us know how it does after youv shot a couple hundred rounds through it.

    Is the gun camo dipped?

Maybe that caused the rust in the pin area.

    Mudhen,
No it is not camo dipped. It is all black from head to toe.

I put a hundred rounds through it today, and it shot very nice. Only auto I have ever owned and I really like it. I have a stainless Ruger Red lable that was always my go to gun, but this year the stoeger is going to be in the blind. I bought it mainly for shooting pigeons that I trap and use for dog training but it may get some time in the blind this year. I'll let you know how she holds up in a real Montana hunting season. Ducks,Geese and upland. Thanks for the replies.
