I'm considering purchasing the Poor Man's Mercury Recoil Reducer for a Stoeger 2000 and would like to hear about the pros and cons of this device.

    What has your experience been?

Don't have experience with any merc. recoil reducers, but let me tell you about my home made recoil reducer. I took 3/4 lb. # 7 1/2 shot, put it in a ziplock baggie, formed a rectangle, wrapped it in duct tape, and lined the inside of the stock with foam to center the weight pack and keep it snug. It works great! With the added weight and a Simms slipon recoil pad my Stoeger 2000 now kicks about the same as my Ruger Red Label O/U. As and added bonus the gun is almost perfectly balanced now. Hope this helps.
