Here's a photo of some pheasants taken December 10th 2004 near Parkston SD. Three of the seven were taken by me with my Stoeger Condor!

    It was a great day!

    Bryce,

    Not sure of your question.

She's a German Shorthaired. She's a pointing breed, and she's a great pointing dog. I (and she) have more luck with her pointing birds that will sit tight and not run. That tends to be bobwhite quail, and hen pheasants (which is a bummer because hen pheasants aren't fair game.)

The rooster pheasants tend to run, which frustrates her. Though occasionally, a rooster will sit tight for her.

There's nothing better than shooting a bird over her that has sat tight.

She's kind of funny on the retrieving end of things. She'll retrieve a dummy for me all day long, but a real bird with feathers? She'll try to pull the feathers out before she even thinks about picking it up.

She's pretty single minded when she's hunting and won't complain, slow down, or stop even when injured, so I try to protect her as much as I can. Hence the funny black suit and the orange booties for her paws. Many times I've had to take her to the vet for skin cuts and lacerations due to going through barbed wire fences without slowing down.

If you look at the black suit, you'll see lots of torn fabric that might have been torn skin. Better the suit than the dog.

Actually, the only time she whines is when she thinks we humans have taken long enough for lunch, and she wants to get back out in the fields.

    Hope that answers your question.

    tbing13,

It is marketed as a rain suit.

The vests I have seen marketed for hunting dogs don't protect much of their undersides like under their front legs, so I found something that would.

Look at http://www.k9topcoat.com and look for the "waterproof bodysuit."

The suit chafes her a skin little but it's better than big cuts that have to be stitched.

    Hope this helps,

    Tim
