I am looking to buy one of these two guns and am trying to decide which one to get. I hunt Deer,Turkey,Phesants,Rabbit,Squirral, crow, and some waterfowl. Anyone that could give me their reveiws and thoughts on the M2000 that would be great. Also i was wondering how much an M2000 would run for in synthetic black and camo. If you could please help me i would appreciate it.
    Thanks,

The Remington 11-87 can handle 3.5" shells. The Model 2000 can only handle shells up to 3" long.
If you don't care for 3.5" shells, I'd recommend the Stoeger. To me the main difference lies in "gas operated" vs "inertia recoil operated".

This difference means that the Stoeger will be less sensitive to less than perfect maintenance and cleaning, in other words, more reliable. Inertia recoil systems are usually more sturdy, less likely to need replacement parts, and have an overall longer life than gas operated shotguns.

Felt recoil on inertia guns is usually more than that of gas operated guns. However, it is still less than that felt with pumps, double barrels or single shot guns.

For hunters that might have to carry their gun on their back over some distance before getting to shoot it, weight also plays a part in the decision. An 11-87 synthetic stock with a 28" barrel weighs 8.25 lbs. A Stoeger 2000 synthetic with a 28" barrel weighs 6.9 lbs.

Here in Canada, you can get an 11-87 28" synthetic with three choke tubes for $989.99 (Canadian Dollars) from a major retailer. The same retailer has the Stoeger 2000 synthetic 28" with five choke tubes for $699.99 (Canadian Dollars). After converting this to US dollars you'll probably find cheaper prices in the US, but the decline in prices would apply in the same proportion to both guns because the price difference reflects higher taxes and import costs.

My experience with my Stoeger 2000 has been good. It works reliably, doesn't require much babying and shoots were I want it to.

Go with the remintion, my problems with Stoegers are to long to list, and I now have no gun to hunt with this season, because my two week service at the factory somehow turned into six months, I bought and 11-87, something I should have done in the first place. Much better gun in my opinion and time proven again and again
    Thanks

I agree, I too just received on as an anniversary present and I am tickled with the smooth operation and sure cycling of the firearm. I had a 11-87 premier and would have to say I am on the fence on having to choose. Don't think you could go wrong with either one. Inertia Recoil design and easy cleaning would have to be the deciding factor. As for an X2 I have two friends who shoot them and thay have had nothing but trouble with them.
I guess for doves, ducks, pheasants and early season geese the Stoeger will be the gun I grab and for the later season waterfowl The Nova will be doing the bulk of the work being able to shoot those 3.5 inch mags. Just my $.02.

I have enjoy my 2000 four two years. It has been my shotgun of choice while turkey and pheasant hunting. I also use it deer hunting with the slug barrel. I can't count the number of boxes of shells my son and I have shot at skeet using this gun. It has never failed!!!!! I just returned from a South Dakota pheasant hunt and I only took one gun, my Stoeger 2000.

Have to agree with Hiller.....I have both Remington and Stoeger guns.......both are good guns.....but if something does go wrong with the Stoeger your in trouble if trying to deal with them to help you out.

Worst customer service I have experienced with any gun maker. They do not seem to care about you the customer. I have new M2000 that will not be used this hunt season because they can't get me a simple part that did not come with the gun as it was suppose to. To make all that even worse I had to first argue with them about the part being included.....not sure how they could see into my gun safe and think they knew it was there.

Have 4 Stoegers but won't buy another....in fact may sell a couple.

Well just let me say i had to send it back cause the sights were welded on wrong and I could not adjust my rifle sights out enough to get my slugs to impact where I was aiming, so i send it back, they say it will be 2 weeks, well now 3 months later I don't have a gun for next weeks guns season, so i bought an 11-87 which I should have done in the first place. Now stoeger told me it will be 3 more months for my gun, because they had som many problems with the slug barrels that they redesigned them and now there waiting on the machine to be built to make the barrels, so i said just put a field barrel on it and send it back. and now they don't have any field barrels to put on it. What a joke, and what horrible customer service, if i may compare it to Buck Knives, I sent my buck knife in last week cause the blade broke, I got it back last night, not even a week gone and they had it fixed, now that is quality customer service
WEll i hopes you all take my experience into consideration.
    Thanks
    Hiller
