I don't know the first thing about guns, but I went to a friends dad and he suggested getting a Stoeger side-by-side.

I don't see to many people talking about this gun - is it not a good one to get?

Hope I made the right decision.

I got the nickel plated with black stock, 20" 12gauge 3" barrel.

I bought one used for $200 that was a blast to shoot (no pun intended.) I ended up tradeing it and have regreted it ever since. A new one is quite a bit more expensive than that around here.

yes i do, as a matter of fact. my stogie is great for a boat oar. the gun that he bought is a coach gun which was used for blasting highway robbers ie. rideing shot gun. not quail hunting or skeet shooting. my orgnial problem with stoger was with poor customer service. also the quality of my gun is poor, but i do not totaly regret buying it. a couple of weeks ago i was a gunner for a rateings test (dog stuff) it was the middle of huricane Ivan it was cold wet and raining muddy and just a hectic and horrable day, i would have never taken my new beretta out to shoot that day because of what i was doing. i had to walk about 8 miles testing dogs planting birds laying my gun in the mud and wet bird crap, it was way above a regular hunting day i had the cheep gun out because i had about a hundred other things to worry about. for that, the ol' boat oar was great. but..... if im out on a nice day shooting skeet or takeing a nice walk on a sunny fall day with Doc and a buddy to pop a few quail im takeing the baretta and thats it..... the stogie is a back up and as long as people ask my opinon im going to give it.... and like moma always said opinions are like butt holes every one has one and they all stink

If I was in the market for a side by side shot gun what choices do I have? The only other manufacturer that I know of is beretta and its way out of my price range. I have a single shot stoeger and it works quite well.

thats so true....for istance with myself, i actually have pride in my condor supreme. so far, the gun is pretty damm good, had it for about 3 months now, and have put about well into 1,000 rounds through it. havn't experienced a problem yet. in my case, thats my only gun i bring out, unless i am going out for waterfowl, and thats when the Nova comes out. its all personal experience and opinion.

i dont have the supreem i bought the cheep one. as a matter of fact ive never evan botherd to look at the supreem so im sure it must be a little nicer than the ol' boat oar .
as for a side by side stevens used to make a nice one. they have gone a bit out of favor lately im shure the uplanders would fit the bill for what you want but i would look into somthing used from a reputable source.
