after purchasing my condor supreme, it was time to finally test it out. i took it to the trap range, and did some clay shooting. i was impressed with the way the gun shot, and it didnt take me long before i got the hang of the gun. i was also impressed how smooth the gun open and closed. i did notice one thing though.....if i were to shoot one shot, and crack the gun open, it would exract the shot shell very easily with no problems. but after i shot both shells, it seemed very hard to crack the gun all the way open so they can eject. i almost had to use my knee to crack the gun open and eject both shells at the same time. since this is my first O/U is this normal? other than that, the gun shot and performed great.

i hate to say it but that is normal for a condor it will take about 300 rounds for it to "break in" also check to see if any thing is hanging up or scuffing around the breech it seemed like it took for ever to get myn to work rite now all i have to do is fip the lever and give the gun a nice jerk up and i pops open also check the brass at the end of the shell for extreme swelling or try differnt loads

Nmarro, I'm considering purchasing the Condor Supreme myself. I know it can be hard to open at first but I was wondering if you would still suggest the gun, I've never owned or shot an O/U, and I'd like to start with a good quality gun that I don't have to get a second job to purchase. =]

i would just get the condor and save the extra money for shells unless you realy want ejectors and switchable triggers. other wise the regular condor is the way to go to get your feet wet.

    Hi alll,
I've been hunting for quite awhile with a 12 guage 870, 30 years or so and it has never choked.
I recently, last week, tried sporting clays, they taste pretty nasty but are a ball to hunt. i got a few but have decided that clay bird shooting isn't too easy with a red dot mounted on the reciever. so off to the sporting goods store and i baught a Condor Supreme, the price seemed right.
Got it home cleaned the packing grease out of it , put it together and tried to open and close it and even after working it in a few hours it just didn't seem right.
I ttok it apart again and looked at the mating surfaces and saw some of the worst machined surfaces that i have ever seen. the metal had galled from rubbing against one another.
I took it back to where i got it and they said they would send it back to be looked at.
I've folllowed a bunch of these threads over the past week to get a general idea of the quality of these guns and it runs about 50/50 to weather they are junk or not.
My question is after a normal breakin period of shooting it is this gun going to loosen up to open properly, jamb shels , fall apart?
Now i do believe in "you get what you paid for" but $400.00 is not chump change to me. For what i want an O/U for i'm not interested in shelling out $2000. My guns are tools . they get wet, they get shot. and the get cleaned and taken care of.
Another question? am i going to get any form of customer support from Stoeger or Benelli? or should i just get my $400.00 returned and put the bird barrel back on my Remington.
    I'd appreciate any feed back

    E Docteur

well doc here's what ive found.. un less its somthing realy major just try and fix it your self. what i ended up doing is takeing the entire weapon appart and polishing all of the mateing surfaces with some 400-1000 grit sand paper also i used a liberal amount of blue lock tite on the screws and on a few i took a punch and wacked them aganst there mateing surface to make shure they wouldent loosen up. i put over 200 rounds threw myn on sunday with out a problem (thats about normal for when i go out shooting about 2 times a month) after the polishing every thing has worked very well. lets face it they are cheep guns assembled in a third world country and you realy do get what you pay for.... but with a little time and effort you can make it a fairly nice gun for the money. it took me about 12 beers and 5 hours on a saturday to clean myn up to where it works almost as well as my wife's new beretta black onyx (1450$) now i still prefer to shoot her gun but i would think twice before using that for a boat ore or a walking stick thats what my condor is for. as for customer service i had to do a good bit of compalining to get what i felt was some satisfaction and evan then i just kind of gave up and fixed it my self when i finaly got it back.

    fezman,
sounds about like what i thought, i appreciate your response. if and when i get it back i ussume they will just send another one that i will have to clean again. i think i will take it down and get all of the grit out of it. i'm not a gun smith by any means but i think i can get it apart. sounds like i should start at the but plate and work forward.
if i get stumped do you mind if i ask you a few questions about it?
I sent the gun back last Thursday, lets see how long it takes me to get it back.
I'd like to go duck hunting the first part of October and it would be nice to get the bugs worked out before then.
    thanks again

i would assume that your going to get the same gun back. as for the gun smithing part i wouldnt sweat it the condor is as simple as it gets and if you dont feel confortable taking any thing appart just take a realy close look at the mateing surfaces for wear and just sand them a little with some emory cloth 400 is as corse as i would go make shure to take your time. amost all of the works are in the stock there are 2 screws in the butt plate. i only took out one then loosend the other to swing the plate out of the way then there's a flat bladed screw all the way at the bottom of the hole in the stock you will need a realy long screw driver to get it out just make shure you lay every thing out on the bench in the order that you took it appart and do the entire job in one sitting that helps the reassembly

Your probably right about getting the same one back. Sounds easy enough. Do you have the selective trigger model? I read last week about someone modifying a side by side to disable the automatic safety as you break it open. is the rod/spring assembly similar on the condor?
I worked on the way surfaces between the forestock and reciever for awhile with emery but it looked really bad so i packed it up.
You are right about the workmanship from a third world country. unfortunately i married a member of that third world country, what a peice of work that was. Never did get the rough edges off and had a ***** of a time returning that too.
