I am planning to do some turkey hunting with my 2000 and would like to try using steel shot. Does anyone know of a full choke/turkey choke for the 2000 that will work with Hevi-shot? The full that comes with the gun is not reccommended with steel shot. I haven't had any luck on the web finding anything.
    thanks

I would contact Pattern Master and ask them. I have heard their choke works good with steel. I personally would not use steel on turkeys because where I try to hunt there is a shot size limit. ( ie. nothing size biiger than #4). Good luck, and call them in close

    hje,

You're confusing terms. Hevi-Shot is not the same as steel shot. Hevi-Shot is a Tungsten- Iron mixture that is actually heavier (denser) than lead. Steel is lighter (less dense) than lead.

I have heard everyone who has used it, say Hevi-Shot is great for Turkeys. I would NOT use steel shot, however.

Like shell waster said, it would be best to contact a choke tube manufacturer.

Streel shot is not as good a performer as lead. The only reason it exists is because of environmental concerns of waterfowl habitat. The hevi-shot or any good magnum load is recommend for turkeys. Get your wallet out for hevi-shot. About $2 a shot. I bought a Hastings choke that did not mention hevi-shot so I called and they do not rec. it.

What after-market choke tubes are suitable for use with Hevi-Shot ?

Any choke tube that is manufactured from high-quality steel, such as stainless, should be acceptable for use with Hevi-Shot. Choke tube manufacturers such as Rhino, Patternmaster, Carlson's, Truglo and Trulock offer Turkey choke tubes that are suitable for use with Hevi-Shot.

not my choice , but TRUGLO has an adjustable choke tube made of titanium in Cabelas for around $100 . Says in the write-up that it can handle whatever you want to put through the barrel .
