Hey, I'm new to the board. Got a Stoeger 2000 for X-mas and love it! Only prob is that after each shot, I have to pull the action manually to load the second shot. For the third shot, I have to push the little button to release the shell and then pull the action! This is otherwise a great gun, but having to hand-load every shot on an automatic gun is driving me nuts. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

what shells are you using??? the manual says to use shells with a minimum of 1 1/8oz and 3drm. try some hevy 3in loads and see what it does.

it sounds just like what my sbe and friends pintail was doing when i used loads that were much too light for the gun(ie 7/8oz).

    good luck

If the bolt in its fully rearward position then the loads are to weak.

my buddy was having the same problem with his 11/87 but after about 50 shots or so it worked fine some times in the cold (below 40deg) the gun grease will start to get a little stiff you might try a lighter oil or graphite especialy on a brand new gun the tolerences are very tight. it took about 200 rounds threw my brand new condor before the acton loosend up. also try some high brass rounds not the light target loads. 1oz or better. i would avoid taking it two far apart theres a lot of parts to loose in an auto loader. if push comes to shove use some real heavy 3" shells

    moss man,
the bolt does not always lock in its back position. when i was shooting 7/8oz loads in the sbe and pintail the bolt would cycle then get stuck with the loaded shell out of the mag tube(about halfway forward), or close on an empty chamber, or close the empty shell back in the chamber. both the barretta(sp?) and benelli would cycle maybe 1 in every seven rounds of the winchester super speeds(1265fps).

both have proven to be excellent guns though!

I had the same problem that my 2000 was not reloading. I found out later that I was using too light a load (should have read the manual first!!!!).

the 2000 WILL NOT cycle anything lighter than a 1oz load!!!! I wold suggest stripping the gun down (bolt, trigger mech. etc...) and cleaning all of the packing grease off of it and then spray a light mist of oil and wipe it off. The packing grease will harden over time and not allow the gun to function properly.... I had the same prob...got my new gun, bought the cheapest 7/8 oz shells at wal mart and it woiuldn't cycle them. Now , after hundreds of shots fired, My gun ins the sweetest recoil operated gun that Ive ever owned(and the only one). If you want any tips on recoil, let me know...Ive just about been through it all with this gun!! I love my 2000!!!! I even made the reciever silver and people ask if it is a benelli!! good luck!!

I must be one of the lucky ones. Out of the box my 2000 purchased October 2003 has shot anything I put in it (7/8 and 1 1/8). Even Walmarts cheapest. My son and I have blasted many boxes of skeet and the 2000 was my carry gun on a South Dakota pheasant hunt this year. Dismantle and clean the gun and oil with light gun oil.
