I just purchased the model 2000 from a friend of mine. I haven't shot it yet, but it looks and feels nice. He told me not to shoot top quality ammunition with it, and to stick with the cheap brands of shotguns shells. When I asked him why, he just said because it wouldn't handle it. After looking at Stoeger's website, it says that it can shoot high quality powerful loads. Anybody else use the Model 2000 for waterfowl? And if so, what type of ammunition do you shoot? And how reliable and accurate is the Model 2000?

I was going to buy a Browning for this upcoming season, I was looking at purchasing a Gold series shotgun. But money is a little tight right now, so I picked up the Stoeger for the time being. I just don't want to head out on the water and have this thing jam or give me problems. I'm thinking about toting along my 870 express as a back up gun until I feel comfortable that the Model 2000 won't leave me powerless in the field. Thanks

I have had mine since last fall, and used it for ducks last year. I had absolutely no problems shooting any 2 3/4 or 3" shells. I shot Remington Nitros, Winchester, Federal Tungsten-Polymer and Hevi-Shot, without fail. It is my duck gun.
