Whitetail, upland game, waterfowl when invited along, and for home defense of possums, coon, and big-balled tomcats.

I didn't find any appreciable difference and opted for the 2-3/4 to get an extra shell in the tube. But for the accuracy you will acheive you will probably not need more than one shot from now on.
