Date of manufacture

I am looking for the method to date a SBE I was able to pick up used for my son. Anyone have the magic formula to decipher the serial number?...or is there a different way?

no magic,no tricks,,,page66 in the Beretta catalog lets you know what year your weapon was built.theres alittle square box with 2 letters in it,,on the barrel and reciever,,they should match,,that''ll tell the year make of your weapon---------------------M1014 ;)
