operating recoil spring length

i suspect my operating recoil spring is tired. does anyone know the length of a new operating spring? my old spring measures 15 1/2 inches. i pulled it to lengthen it to 19 inches which seemed to help.

Don't know the length officially, but sounds like you need a new spring. A recent American Handgunner article stated that the biggest action to cause shortened spring life is to stretch springs as you did. Your "pull" is likely only a temporary remedy. Stay safe, Tacman
