Hey everybody.
I was wondering if I could get some help on getting some information on a pistol I just picked up. Through all of my research, all I could find out is that it was made by Uberti. The pistol is a SAA, 4-3/4" barrel, 45 LC. On top of the barrel is stamped "Mitchell Arms 45 Long Colt". On the bottom of the barrel is stamped "A. Uberti, Italy". On the left side of the frame below the cylinder is stamped "CAT. 1518". I would assume that the number stamped, where the trigger guard meets the frame, is the serial number, "84***".
The pistol is nickle plated with no pitting, with the exception of the plating flaking off of the hammer. The action is very crisp and it indexes flawlessly. It has a nice looking set of walnut grips. With the exception of it being dirty, it is in excellent condition. It strongly resembles the Cattleman line, but the CAT 1518 stamp and lack of model leads me to wonder. I know that a nickle Cattleman retails for around $600, so I don't feel too bad about the $200 I paid. If anybody has any knowledge about this pistol, please reply. I do have a few questions regarding the hammer. It is not the usual setup.
