View Full Version : M4 mag tube replacement
New to the forum and I had 2 questions:
1. I ordered the 6 shot mag tube from Numrich and I was wondering about the success or problems others have encountered with this particular tube
2. I understand that a heat gun is necessary to remove the factory tube. Any success stories or bad experiences with this (finish damage, etc.)? Any tips or comments would be appreciated.
Thanks

I'm not sure about the Numrich tube, but I installed the one from Dave Metal Works.
I turned the headgun to 1100watts with no discoloring. Try to stay on the tube more. Smoke came out on mine before I can twist the tube off by hand.

Heat the reciever and it will expand making the tube looser. If you heat the tube, it will expand making it more difficult to remove than if you had just heated the reciever.

This is true, you want to heat the Receiver NOT the tube.
Not only will it take longer, physics are against you.
Mine came out very easy. About 3min with a heat gun on a low setting. At that time, I was able to loosen it with my bare hands super easy.

I agree with all of the above... The trick is once you see the smoke start twisting like ****... I have a newer M4, and they use some green ultra strong loctite... So just take your time with it, you will get it off...
Thanks guys - I'll give it a try. Sure hope that Numrich tube is good. The only ones I hear comments about is DMW's product.
Installed Numrich full length replacement tube today and tested - ran like a champ with 3" magnum buck. Excellent finish match to original barrel too. I would highly recommend it.
Thanks for the help.
