Hey everyone,

I just bought a new Benelli Nova 12 GA earlier this year, and got it primarily for turkey hunting. Well, fall is here, and now I'd like to be able to use it as a slug gun for deer as well. I'm wondering how to make sure its setup optimally for that use, i.e. which choke to use, what kind of slugs to use, with the standard barrel that comes with it (I got the 26" barrel). I want to be sure that I have something that will work, without damaging the barrel at all, and provide decent accuracy and range. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much.

Benelli recommends a cylinder choke. I have heard people say not to go any tighter than a IC.

After that find a rifled slug that shoots well with you set up.

I like Brenneke and Remington's.

Thanks much for the advice/thoughts. I guess I should be able to use the IC choke that came with the Nova, and just find a rifled slug. Excellent...that should be easy. Thanks again.

The hastings rifled choke tube will work better than the IC choke. Especially if you use some adjustable sights that attach to the vent rib. If you are interested I have one that I will sell you. Email me.
