Hi all,
Was looking into buying one but not to sure now having read some comments on this forum..... :(
I am upgrading from a Mossberg pump and only want it for more of a fun gun etc.... nothing serious.....
Not to happy with "bits" apparently falling off the gun but like the feel and pointing aspect....
Are there any more positive comments? Thanks in advance..

Hey Trojan, I have had my 2000 for a couple of years now and never a problem. You do need to break it in some by shooting a few boxes of heavy loads through it. I have read the stories in here but can't say why they had problems with their guns. Does it have a punch to it. Yes, but I tamed it with the Sims Limbsaver butt pad #10008. Now the recoil seems to be moderate and I don't mind shooting it at all. All I can tell you is that mine has performed flawlessly. The only other thing I can tell you is that the gun is what it is, an inexpensive firearm that can and will be serviceable to you if for the most part you take care of it. Personally I am from the old school! When you use it, take it home and clean it then put it away until the next time. I never could see abusing a gun by not taking care of it. You take care of it! It takes care of you.

hey I bought my m2000 a few months back and it's great so far. I was up in the air whether I should get it but I got a good deal and don't regret it. The recoil isn't as bad as most say. For the money it's a good all-around gun.

I love mine.. I put almost 500 rounds through it on the first weekend I got it.. No misfires , jams or anything. It fits me perfect too. I don't think it kicks as hard as my benelli nova.
I am the guy who got the gun made on Monday. Sent mine back 3 times before they got it to work, problems: misfires, shell feeding, bolt handle flying off often. In the end every part on the gun except the reciever and stock was replaced, so they made good on the repair but never another M2000 for me.
Now you got the good and the bad.
Thinking of it?
Don't.
Mine went back for failure to feed, and the infamous 'benelli click'. It still does the exact same thing. I updated my thread: http://www.benelliusa.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10686

I would buy another stoeger.. I know there not the best but they are good for the money. If you want a thousand dollar gun yeah go buy a benelli, but for $400 you cant beat them

Here is my experence, I purchased my Stoger last year at Cabela's, Nov. The gun worked great, had no problems threw dove, quail and turkey season. I started getting ready for bird season this August with some skeet and trap shooting, witch the gun work great. After taking the gun apart for cleaning and puting it back together I could not get the extractor botton to work correctly, which caused the gun to malfunction, I called Cabela's they said to bring it back and they would either ,fix it, exchange it or replace it at no cost to me. I did and have a brand new gun which is working perfectly and Iam pumping the rounds threw it on the skeet range. The lesson here is that it is a very well made gun, even more if a company like Cabela's is willing to back it up almost a year later with out any question, its a good deal. JRF

If you have an M2000 that isnt feeding shells then it could be a number of problems, having sent mine back 3 times I have seen it all.
Typically I have seen the Benelli gunsmiths do a lot of modifying of the action bar, mine has a lot of grind and polish marks on one end - dont do it yourself unless you have to. Also one thing they found on the third trip back was cosomoline (grease) from the factory inside the magazine tube plus more grease on the spring, clean these parts and lightly oil. (I never would have guessed this was all gunked up too)
In the end both springs were replaced (action spring and mag spring). I would try the popping the cap off the mag tube then pull the spring and plug, then run a swab with some Hoppes or other brand solvent down to clear out the grease. Degrease the spring and finally lightly oil all parts and reassemble.
Load and unload by hand first then shoot for function, shoot it enough to see if you made a difference. If all else fails get this gun back to CS pronto and let them see if they can make the repair or replace parts.

Hi all,
First off thanks for your replies. Well I took the plunge and bought one last month. It was going great until I took it out today (crop season here in Ireland = pigeons) and it is refusing to fire. Feels like there is a prob with the trigger. Having stripped it down I can't see an issue but then I'm not up to speed with how triggers work internally. Has anyone come across this before? I've tried to contact my dealer but he is away until friday.
Thanks....

I dont know exactly how much the M2000 is going for today, at the time I paid $315.00 including tax at Dicks Sporting goods, for what I paid it seemed like a great deal at the time. (1 1/2 yrs ago)
In hindsite I should have spent a little more. Another $200 would have put me into a completely different class of gun and I wouldnt have found myself purchasing another gun because of my complete dissatisfaction with the M2000.
Others in here obviously got some of the good ones, but you will roll the dice and the odds appear to not be in your favor. In the $500-700 neighborhood you could get into a Beretta 3901, Rem 11-87, Winchester SX2, Franchi 720 and some others I am sure to have missed.
Point is if you want this to be long term purchase and not take the chances of returning it several times to get it to work, look at some others and see what fits you the best.

TMAC,
Thanks & I hear you..... My budget was tight... Over here, in Ireland, the M2000 cost me €625. I will take it back to my dealer & get it sorted as it is only two months old, however, if it is going to give me grief I will get something better. I was very happy with it up till now, but I don't want an unreliable gun, so will look a bit more dearer if need be.
Thanks again....

I completely understand where your coming from, and hope your purchase serves you well. I must say wow to the 625 Euro, thats close to $850 USD alot of money for this shotgun by our standards. Best of luck to you.

I agree. I priced up a few shotguns Stateside & did the maths in Euro. I am, without a doubt, living in the wrong country :D ...
Unfortunately Ireland has a reputation for this in all fields & is nicknamed "Rip off Ireland". (Google it).... :(

It is good to know that folks hunt and shoot in other parts of the world. I hope you get it worked out.

Cheers,
My dealer has taken it in but called me later to say he cannot resolve the issue, so he has ordered another trigger mechanism from Stoeger, should be back in business by tues/wed.

Got it back yesterday..They replaced the trigger mechanism.. Went out for a quick stroll this evening...... No probs as yet..........

It looks like the delivery on the trigger was very timely, lucky for you. I also had my trigger replaced, plus the barrel, bolt assembly, mag spring, action spring - so almost like new and all under warranty.
If misfires persist you may have to have the head spacing on the barrel checked, that was the final conclusion on my M2000 so I then recieved a new barrel and a full set of chokes.
Good luck and keep shooting.

I've also seen crud in the firing pin hole cause weak strikes on the primer, sometimes working itself loose just in time for the gunsmith to test it,only to find "nothing wrong" and give the gun back.Very unlikely problem, but still possible!
Have fun!

I have had mine for about 2 years now so far the only problem I have had has been the long mag tube broke. I shoot 3 gun with mine sometimes we shoot 300 rounds a day. so far not a problem.

took mine out dove hunting today and ran a full box of 2 3/4 3dram 1 1/8 7 1/2 shot through it without a single problem it`s a very light gun with a great swing i think it`s a keeper. only 3 doves and a tree rat but thats not the guns fault.
