Not sure if they have hit the shops over there yet but both Uberti and Pedersoli are producing repros of the Colt Lightning slide action rifle. I had the pleasure of handling them both recently and I guess you CAS shooters will enjoy them. Sadly we aren't allowed to own them here in the UK.

rimfires,
Where did you get to see them? I remember reading a couple of years ago a review in a CAS magazine. Oh wouldn't that be lovely............
I did see an original antique at Pheonix last year, may still be there this year, but he wanted more money than I could ever afford!

I had the pleasure of visiting both the Uberti and Pedersoli factories a couple of weeks ago and handled both rifles. The Pedersoli has a nice safety touch in that you can empty the magazine without allowing a loaded cartridge to enter the breech.
I see that you are posting from the UK which means, sadly, that you won't be able to own one of these.

How did you get to visit both factories? I own both Pedersoli and Uberti and would love to see where they are made!!
With Pedersoli putting this safety feature on, how do they compare to the original?

In my spare time I write articles for Target Sports magazine and was invited to do some research at Uberti. The lady there then set up visits to Pedersoli and Armi Sport. The latter have a beautiful copy of the Winchester 1892 in takedown form.
I feel the safety on Pedersoli's Colt is aimed at the American market - they probably don't want anyone sueing them when he shoots himself!

Well done sir! Target Sports is a good read, however, seems to be missing from the newsagent shelves of late. If they are sending you to Italy, I'll have to keep a special eye out!!
Was there any shooting of these or any other replicas? Or is it a see, touch and photograph?

I'm afraid I had to pay for the trip myself, Bob. It was money well spent as I was treated like royalty. My contact at Uberti put in a lot of time and effort to make sure that I had two full days of activity and Mr. Pedersoli gave up a full day of his time - even taking me to the Italian proof house.
I did get to shoot the Armi Sport 1892 and it seems a fine weapon.

We got one, Uberti model from Stoeger, a few days ago, but they called yesterday and wanted it back. :(

Howdy Rim and Bob! Just checkin to see what happened to you guys, have missed in Voy. So stopped by to say hi. I picked up an 1836 Paterson Pietta and after figuring out that they had the cylinder spring installed wrong and that there was an adjustor screw for the bolt that needs backing out after about 70 cycles, I love it. A real historical piece of work. I also found that Wayne was inorrect in thinking they were made differantly diagrams are exactly the same from Uberti as in my Pietta. Only differance is the 1-64 twist 11 lands in Uberti and the 1-32 twist 7 lands in the Pietta. Anyway hope to see you guys soon take care. http://tinypic.com/90p0k3.jpg
