As of right now, I only have an Uberti SAA .44-40 in 5 1/2 in. barrel. I want to do cowboy action shooting. The rifle I want to get is an 1873 .44-40. But what type of double barreled shotgun should i get? Also, what barrel length should i get in my second revolver, 7 1/2 or another 5 1/2? THANKS ALOT!

Ahh, the 44-40. My favorite cartridge next to the 45 Colt. The '73 rifle is an excelent choice. I'd suggest you get you another 5.5 inch revolver in 44-40, sort of a matched set. Don't worry, you'll buy others later. We all do, (see my post here - "What kind of Sixguns do you shoot"?). I've got 3 full sets of guns in 45 Colt, a full set in 44-40 and am currently putting together a set in 38-40.

I shoot a Stoeger SXS for which I paid around $300. Uberti makes a real nice one with external hammers that lists for around $650. You can check the used gun market for an American made double shotgun too. There are some real bargains out there if you look around.

Also, you might want to post this question over on the SASS wire. You'll get more opinions than you can shake a stick at!

Good shooting and God bless.

Like DBC said, go with another 5 ½” in 44-40.
My SxS is the Bounty Hunter II from EAA. Paid $250 for it. Ya don’t have ta spend a lot on a SxS.
