Best gun for buffalo

I have narrowed down what I am going to buy for later buffalo hunting. either the weatherby vanguard 30-06. Or a colt lite rifle 300 win mag. And witch scope would be best for the task, a 4-12x40mm LEO scope, or a 3-9x50 nikon scope?

really, nikon sucks eh. I can't use short mag, well I can I just don't have the reloading equipment for it. I think I am unsure about any details on short mags. I havent even seen one.

IMHO, compared to Leupold, or even Swift (best warranty out there, BTW), Nikon stinks in the freezer of an eskimo in the dead of winter.

The short mags have been around for a few years now. Bone up, why dontcha?
