Does wild rice need moving water to grow? I was thinking of planting some until I was informed it needed moving water. I have hunted hundred of wild rice lakes and the water does seem pretty clean.

shell .. good question .. I'm thinking it doesn't need to be moving from the experience I have hunting and fishing in northern Minnesota but i could be off base on this one...but, it's all over the place up there.

Thanks Birddog. I always read your inputs becasue I think you are a real hunter and not some bone-head bragging about how they are a mighty hunter.

PS. I love hunitng over wild rice, it's the best.

Where's the best place to purchase wild rice? Are certain types better for different regions?

Contact your local DU chapter and they will be able to help the best, and since they aren't selling anything they are totally honest. Most Co-op can get wild rice, Biologic sells wild rice but it's expensive.

Best place to buy wild rice is Minnesota. They have web sites to purchse. Go to "Ask.com" and ask Jeeves.

Hi Robert - Washington grows it commercially so I guess it will depending on the area/body of water.
