I agree!

Not enough of them considering all of the women involved in hunting.

very good post!

I know several women I'd rather be out in the woods with..... Hmmm… Maybe I should have worded that differently. What I mean is, they tend to be more patient and less likely to do something stupid, than some of the guys I’ve hunted with. One guy I hunted with got so impatient, that he got out of his tree stand and walked directly into my kill zone. This happened on the eastern shore of Maryland, while hunting for Sika deer, salt water marsh and 8 foot high reeds. All I could see was the reeds moving back and forth as he was walking through them, until he stepped into my shooting lane. Lucky for him I check my targets, and I didn’t have an itchy trigger finger.

Funny first line! I've found women that are actually interested in any type of shooting, are better first time shooters, generally speaking. Expectations aren't as high and they have more patience than men, among other factors.

Hah, I know some women I'd rather be in the woods with two  ;)

But in all seriousness I agree with all of you but I have never heard any issues with women hunters?

So... Lil Yorkie... Do you hunt, or are you just thinking about getting into it? If you do hunt what do you like to hunt? Deer, duck, turkey.... Any good hunting stories? Indulge us. smile.gif

I was so excited to see everyone interested in women who shoot and wanting to see a show about women hunting that I had to send you this. I belong to the Texas Women's Shooting Sport....the DIVAS! Please check out our website www.txdiva.com (http://www.txdiva.com) and you will find a great group of ladies from all over the world who are interested in shooting and hunting. We are in the process of producing a show as we speak. It has been picked up by a network and we will find out soon when it will air. It will be posted on our website when it's available. You can direct any questions you may have to our website. Thanks, Rita Tx Diva

Actually, I just returned from my first all women turkey hunt in south-eastern Illinois. We hunted with a very professional, knowledgeable group of guides from River's Bend Trophy Outfitters in New Haven Illinois. (812) 483-4358.

At first I had no idea what I had gotten my self into. I was wondering if I could even "hack it"... which I was able to....

I brought with me a Benelli M2 in Realtree's Advantage Timber HD 12 gauge- 3 inch with a full choke. My clothing was also Realtree's Advantage Timber HD.

The first day we were up at 3:30 a.m. and out of the lodge by 4:10 a.m. (That is REAL early for me)

We drove to a place where a blind had been set up. It was pitch black and real quiet. We got into the blind and were sitting for 20 minutes... when out about 25 yards was a coyote at our decoys (looked to me like a big dog)... he sniffed a bit and left... As the woods came alive, we heard gobbling. My guide Joe Smith called and we got some answers... we sat somemore... no reply... so we moved out of the blind, into the field, up hills and into the woods. We sat at the base of a big tree and the guide called again. We heard gobbling... We sat there for quite some time... everything went quiet.... That was how it was for the rest of the first day...

2nd, 3rd and 4th days had many, many exciting moments of heart-pounding anticipation... sitting there at the ready... and then... quiet... OR big gobbler flies above our heads... OR a group of hens show up!

All in all I would say it was a wonderful experience... eventhough I did not harvest a turkey... the experience of the hunt was fabulous. I really surprised myself that I could do this and that I so thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Some of the animals we saw were albino deer, 2 bobcats, a coyote, an egrid (sp?) fox squirrels, racoon, snapping turtle, gray snake and a cow that had just given birth... Now... sitting here in my office... I would never have ever seen anything like this....

2 women in our group harvested 20 pound turkeys. Stephanie shot hers with a Benelli M2 and Lynn shot hers with a Beretta.

I would like to encourage all women to at least try a turkey hunt once. You may surprise yourself and enjoy it as much as I did. Ofcourse the guides you're with and the lodge you stay in, make all the difference in the total "experience" ... I think.

Excellent.

Getting up at 3:30AM is probably my least favorite part of hunting as well. It’s amazing what you’ll see while you’re hunting. That’s why I always take a camera with me. Last time I went deer hunting I saw a red fox, and 16 turkey hens. They strutted past my stand in a single file line, and didn’t seem to mind me sitting there at all. I think they knew they were not in season.

I can't use a stand. I tried it and I just kept falling asleep.

And I won't take dear hunting seriously, I just neander along and I will still find one every time

There's nothing wrong with a nice nap in a tree stand. I've taken many very refreshing naps in tree stands.

I was very interested by the women hunting community in the States having read some of the postings on this site. Would be very keen to get in touch with some of you to talk about the possibility of involving you in a documentary. Do many of you go on women-only hunting groups? if so, how long for? What do you hunt and what do you use to hunt with?

Where do you hunt? Aaaah, so many questions from a very uneducated englishman......any help from anybody would be massively appreciated.

I would like to see a new show also. My daugther started really hunting this year, and got her first deer at the end of the season. She really wanted to get one with her bow but used a gun to take her first. 150 yard shot with a 300 win mag and dropped it ih its tracks. She also dragged it and cleaned it by herself, man I was impressed. I told her she needs her own show. She works at Dick's sporting goods in Durham, NC in the lodge. Heck she had to show me how to my new SBE together.

Just returned from my 2nd ladies goose hunt on Maryland's Eastern shore. (Rock Hall - Chestertown, Maryland)

WOW! The excitement you feel when the geese arrive, responding to the calls and trying to mingle with the decoy... then you pull the trigger and see the goose fall.... Quite a rush... I was amazed as to how heavy they are....and warm... and soft...

I would totally encourage woman to go out and at least "try" it. If you find that you do not like it, then you never have to do it again... but you may surprise yourself and really enjoy it... just as I did...

You may also be surpeised at the guys who want to hear every detail about the hunt... all in all-- a good hunting experience!

That's the one show that I cannot bear to watch on ESPN's Hunt Sunday.
A ditzy acting blonde on safari doesn't do a thing for me.

Will Lorimer </font>[/QUOTE]As a hunting guide and outfitter in North Texas, we ocassionally get to hunt with ladies as clients. While they typically join thier husbands or boyfriends for the hunt. It has been fun to enjoy several good hunts with women in the field. Most Hunting and shooting sports are so macho-male dominated, a change of pace is nice. I feel the best support for hunting & fire arm rights in the US is increased participation. So when more ladies and kids take an intrest hunting,
it is good for our sport. We see the most women hunters during dove season. Which occurs in the summer and has very strong traditions here in the south. Bring your crew over to Texas around September of this year and we may be able to host your production. Take a look at our website and contact me if you are intrested.

I think it is great that so many of you are exposing your daughters and wives (significant others) to hunting and shooting. There is NOTHING more invigorating to me than sitting on the edge of your seat (bucket or whatever you've got) hearing someone blowing on the call with the geese or ducks responding and then the adrenaline rush when they yell "take 'em!" and you pull the trigger. I am a wing girl by choice, throughly enjoy hunting waterfowl and upland birds. I'll take my girls when they get older - I even purchased my 5 year old her first 20 gauge for Christmas! Women and youth - much to the chagrin of a lot of men ... could be the future of the shooting sports in America. Besides, as my husband says (who by the way DOES NOT hunt) "What could be better? Chicks & Guns! It's all good!"

Ahhhh ... I took my girlfriend early season duck hunting once when it was still fairly warm out. She was focused on hunting and did fine until the mid-day lull. The warm sun ... a little chow ... the rocking boat ... next thing I know she's coming at me with that "gleam" in her eyes. I stumbled on the decoys trying to scramble outta the boat ... but it was too late. Oh the hazards of sharing the woods and fields with women ... I'll tell you ... be forewarned ... they aren't all safety related.

You are so right - this huntress is a great ambassador for the sport. What red-blooded males would not love to go on a big game hunting safari with her? She is dreamy! Thank goodness for beautiful women who can stand their ground, view animals down the length of a rifle, and place bullets with such panache. Cindy certainly has my vote. :D

The only thing I can figure is that you guys are watching Cindy with the sound turned down.
She is one incredibly ditzy woman. The quintessential dumb blonde.

On the other hand, these young women are the future of women in hunting.
Smart, beautiful, and talented.

Great pics Tucker 301 ! I kinda like the Cindy ditzy thing..As she always hunts with a highly experienced guide. When trigger time approaches she gets very focused.... You ladies have some huge duck straps in that pic, way to go...

I watched Cindy once. It's nice that she might bring more women into hunting and second amendment awareness ... but something was definitely turning me off when she started talking. Can't quite put my finger on it??? Something was missing or wrong about the way she "bonded" or "blended" into the ancient and instinctive essence of predator/prey and the hunt. Kind of superfluous & Hollywood or something. Perhaps she’s come "late to the game." I felt anyway. She reminded me of the female; reporting from the sidelines of an NFL football game ... the reporter never experience the true primal, controlled savagery of the game, so it's impossible for her words to convey the soul of what's going on out there. "Something" is missing. Like a man trying to explain childbirth. :D

The two sisters above on the other hand ... you can see in their eyes that hunting is in their being. Not just an accessory or fad. A week hunting with Cindy and you'd be suicidal, a week with the girls and you'd have two lifelong, like minded hunting buddies. The kind of people you look forward to seeing again next season in camp. smile.gif

I've got three daughters and the two eldest 15 and 14 are begging me to teach them to hunt. My 14 year old just put down a deposit on a GSP (German short haired Pointer) that she is going to train to be a gun dog. We have a local sporting clays business that also helps train dogs. We figure that in the next two years we should be able to have both Girls hunting chucker, pheasant, doves and quail.
I've even had my future dog handler out looking at Bellini 20 gauges she really likes the Cordoba. We'd be happy to have you talk with our gals.

Although I didn't get into hunting and shooting sports until a couple of years ago with my husband, my fondest memories are of me following along behind my daddy and his dogs.

If you want to hang onto your guns and gun rights, teach your wives and daughters to hunt or shoot clays! For good or bad, women are the future of guns in this nation. AND there is nothing that will get us out of this recession any faster either! Us ladies love to shop and accessorize...and that includes shooting/hunting stuff!
