i just bought a used uberti cattleman .44 spcl
and the firing pin is loose. it wiggles around. does not look right to me. i see a tiny screw on the hammer. does this screw have anything to do with the firing pin retension?? any help would be greatly appreciated. newbie needs help. thanx in advance.

sorry, i was wrong on the model. its a Regulator from american arms by uberti. still need help please.....

just found out that american arms has gone out of business. can anyone tell me if the firing pin on this gun should float in the hammer or should it be fixed solid in the hammer ??????
please help.

Most of em have a little play to them. If they didnt it would probably break. Most Ive seen are a little loose so Id say its ok.

It is okay - this is the way Uberti's are made. As these fourms don't have a lot of throughput, I've answered this question on a couple other threads too.

This stumped me at first too. I posted questions on other fourms like sixgunner.com and asked this question. I was told this is absolutely normal, and the way it's supposed to be. Apparently this is the exact way the first Colts were, and Uberti decided to go with this as well...
