What do you folks think?
A Good Idea
A Bad Idea
Don't Care
Considering the .44 Russian is a centerfire version of the .44 Winchester Rimfire I have often wondered why this caliber has never been offered in the Henry and 1866 rifle lines.
A modern Cowboy Shooter could have the true flavor of shooting these rifles in a centerfire, reloadable version of their original chambering.

I have a brace of 44 russ open tops & would dearly love for my Henry to match. Since the follower is brase seems like a 'good' smithy should be able to re-chamber for this. I know the rounds are a whole lot shorter but still seems as tho it should work.

That would be pretty interesting, but isn't .44 S&W Russian pretty hard to find?
I think Fiocchi is one of the only manufacturers that produce it...

I know they've made limited numbers of 44 special and I've heard of running 44 colt and 44 special through them, most with little to no modification to the carrier or extractor.

I'd love to have an iron frame chambered in 44 colt, it's what I shoot in my conversions and opentop. If I ever get funds together I may see if I can find one in 44 special.
